Whats Hot This Christmas: An Overview of Buying and Selling Activity
As most of you know, we specialize in selling on Amazon and Amazon FBA, therefore Q4 is a busy time of the year! This year, since we have moved a lot of our inventory over to FBA, we had less packaging than usual. Consequently, we had additional time to send in several shipments in to Fulfillment by Amazon warehouses.
We experimented (with trepidation) with allowing FBA to ship some vinyl records. We have been nervous to have Amazon ship our sold records, as they use fairly lightweight packaging materials and shipping envelopes, instead of the LP shipper boxes that we use. Thus far, we have not had any records returned to FBA for refunds, so the experiment has gone well. Sales of Christmas records have been brisk.
We sent in a large box of holiday records and we also flipped a bulk lot of eBay CDs. We bought the CD lot for $20, including shipping. We received 100 CDs. We ended up listing about 75 of them and donating 25 to Goodwill for a tax credit. I will take a 75% turnover onto Amazon from a bulk CD lot any day! In addition, we sold one of the CDs for $27 the same day that it arrived at the FBA warehouse, so now everything else is pure profit.
